On August 24, 1853, Indian chef John Crum made up chips. He did this to annoy a harmful customer.
There are many such stories. Many of today’s famous dishes were invented by mistake, with anger, with despair, or to get out of a difficult situation. And they were so successful that their fame survived the fame of the cook.
On August 24, 1853, at the resort of Saratoga Springs in America, at a restaurant in one expensive hotel, someone called Vanderbilt ordered french fries, the restaurant’s signature dish. Fact No. 1. American scientists conducted research, during the course of which it was found that while classical music was playing in the restaurant, the guests make an order for about $ 50. At a time when the restaurant included Britney Spears songs, orders fell sharply and became much cheaper. After the music was turned off altogether, the order amount dropped to 30 dollars.
Fact number 2. This kind of sausage, as a doctor, was developed in 1936. Sausage was named so because it was intended “to improve the health of those affected by the arbitrariness of the tsarist regime.” Continue reading
